Mihi Cura Futuri, Forme Fallit

Second week of senior has been great! Monday, the day off, I went ice-skating with Grace, Paige, Hannah, James, and Evan, who will be leaving for college soon :(, but at least we taught Paige how to skate, despite her incessant complaining ;) And after we went to Shari's, where I was, once again, reminded of how little I can eat, but still the hot chocolate was fantastic! They have the best in town I swear! Then, I headed across the way to see "The Last Exorcism" with Jade, Scott, Kelsey, Kayleb, and Marshall. At first, I was really nervous, 'cause I never see scary movies in theaters. But in the end it was really STUPID! Some parts were a little scary, but the ending was SO disappointing! So, we decided that since it was such a fail, that later we'd have to watch a decent horror film. When I got home, James called and asked me where I was...long story short, everyone was confused on times, so I rushed over for a game of tennis with Grace and James, which was pretty fun :)Finally, the last thing of the day, Kelsey, Kayleb, Scott, and Jade came over to my house to watch "The Orphan" which FREAKED ME OUT! Hardcore! That was a good horror film!
Tuesday started off like every other day, until in third period I was given this shirt here on the right! I was so surprised! And relieved! I thought no one would ask me! And it was really creative, so I washed the shirt and I found out that my friend Scott (left, along with Kelli) asked me! So basically I'm really excited now! And I was lucky enough to have my friend Grace, who is basically a fashion genius, show me one of her dresses! 'Cause now I'm basically in love with it, and I'm pretty sure it's the one I'm going to wear to homecoming! I can't wait! :)
Now, as for school, it seems to be flowing quite smoothly, and I'm surprisingly not procrastinating yet! I'm pretty proud of myself for that. And tomorrow, I'm heading out to visit the University of Idaho, which is one of my top 2 picks. Then to WSU for 'Future Cougar' day. I hope one of them feels right, if you know what I mean, because right now I really don't know where I'm going to end up; which bring me to the title of this blog. It means "My concern is the future, for I do not know." It has to do with the fact that, in the end, I don't know where my future is heading, but right now it seems to be going in the right direction. Non Semper Erit Aestas

"It will not always be summer." I know this phrase is most commonly used to express the fact that hard times will come into our lives; and seeing as both hard times have come into my life, and that school has just started back up again, that this saying fit quite perfectly.
Week one of Senior Year down! I LOVE my schedule, which I'm surprised about, 'cause I thought I'd drive myself crazy with 7 classes. But I get to see pretty much all of my good friends at least once in the day :) I had a blast catching up with friends, and getting back on track. And my job is nice as well. Good hours, so I get to manage my time, and be able to still have a good social life. And then there was Friday, which was just overall a FANTASTIC day! First assembly of the year was a blast: singing the National Anthem with some choir seniors, watching the Seniors FAIL at the "Decorate the Brave" game, laughing at the announcers (Directors of Enthusiasm I should say) Scott, Cylie, and Nicole who did a great job, and overall just seeing the school spirit. It just makes me love Kamiakin even more. And then that night I went to Jade's house with Raudi, Jennae, and Becca and we all got ready for the first football game of the season! It was fun--truthfully, not all that exciting--but hey, at least we won! 28-0! :)
As for the hard times, I'll just say this: it came to my attention that Homecoming is less than a month away, and I have NO idea if anyone's even going to ask me. This makes me sad :( It's my senior Homecoming, and I've NEVER been to a homecoming dance with a date! Freshmen year I went with a group of all girl friends, and I didn't go Sophomore or Junior Year. Ughh! FML. And to add to this on a side note, boys are stupid, and I'm confused. Shocking huh? I guess I'll just have to go with the flow from here on out.
And the college thing is still in the back of my mind. I'm visiting WSU and U of I (Idaho not Illinois) this upcoming weekend. I'm hoping that one of them feels right, 'cause as of lately, U-Dubb is the only campus I've seen, and I was quite intimidated. And I need to start getting applications in too! Ay dios MIO! :(
But I know it'll all work out in the end. I just wish that there would be some sort of sign on all of it as to what's right or not. Eh...whatever, C'est La Vie right?
I guess I should take my own advice when I say focus on the little things that make you smile :)

Sic Friatur Crustum Dulce

It's been a while since I last blogged. So I'll summarize all that has happened since then as quickly as I possibly can...'cause there's a lot. Malibu YL Club was amazing, but definitely different. Maybe it was just the fact that it was my 3rd camp, or maybe it was the absence of my best friends but something was different about this time. But regardless, I had an amazing time :) But unfortunately something there triggered this horrific rash that went weeks undiagnosed. It kept getting worse and worse, and more painful. I was in hibernation, unable to leave the house often without the worry of making it worse, or just facing the pain in general. But thankfully, after biopsying three pieces of my skin, they figured out that I have celiac disease--aka I'm gluten intolerant. Woo. Hoo.
In case you didn't know this about me, pasta was my life. I ate it everyday, and I'm not exaggerating. So the fact that I had to give it up wasn't exactly the greatest news. But I found out that the Gluten-Free world is actually quite big, and has really good food. So all in all, I'm turning my life around. I'm eating healthier, and I'm always in check with my body; if somethings different, I'm not going to keep quiet about it anymore.
Then I went to Seattle, which was fun as well. First road trip by myself, got to see my best friend Holly who lives in Vegas and finally meet her step-sister Sausha and her dad. But on the ONE day my parents weren't there I sampled some tea at Teavana, and as I was reading about it I saw it said "Contains NUTS." My heart stopped. I freaked out. There's no way to describe how it feels to be in that situation. I didn't know whether to administer the Epi-Pen. I'd been told my whole life, if I eat a nut it will most likely kill me. So, waiting to administer the Epi-Pen could be a fatal mistake. But taking it when it's not needed is just as fatal. So, I basically had a panic attack in the middle of the mall, called the paramedics, and they were there within minutes giving me the breathing tubes, hooking me up to a heart monitor--all while sitting in the middle of the mall. Who knows why, but thankfully I didn't react and I thank God for that.
Now I'm back to my normal self, and I'm SO excited to start school. True, I haven't started my summer assignment yet, so I probably won't be as thrilled when my procrastination comes to bite me in the ass, but I'm sick of being bored. Oh! And I get to start my job this next week, which I'm looking forward to! And then my last round of Senior Photos are being shot tomorrow! And Link Crew Training was today which I personally thought was a ton of fun--despite having to get up early. So all in all, Senior Year seemed to have started with a rough and quite intense summer for me, but is now finally looking up. To anyone who is reading this, thanks again, and remember, focus on the little things that make you smile :)

Tempora Mutantur, Nos et Mutamur in Illis

"The times change, and we change with them." We've all heard this in one way or another. But with Graduation happening this weekend, I was reminded again how true this statement is. It was fun, yet bittersweet; amazing yet scary. I couldn't believe that already a year has gone by -flown by is more accurate. I still remember a year ago from today I was at the YoungLife BBQ, and spending my last Sunday in Vegas. I never wanted to leave, but I knew I was that week. Now, it's been 6 months since I've been back. There's days when all I want is to go back, I miss it so much. But then there's others where it barely crosses my mind. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I love it here. But it's sad because being here, I know that most of the friendships I make here won't last long. I only know this because many of my friendships in Vegas have become pretty much non-existent, or at least they've faded.
It's not a bad thing really, because over time, everyone changes. That's why I like to live in the moment because in the end that's all you've really got. Live with no regrets, don't wait for love, dance like no one's watching, sing as if no one's listening, do what you want, etc. In the end, I think that's the best anyone can ever do, I think that's why we're here. As Kari Miller said in her Valedictorian speech (quoting Dr. Suess), "Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you."
But on a lighter note, it's my last week as a Junior and then it's summer! AH! I'm excited! Malibu YL Camp in less than 2 weeks! Then Vegas next month! I can't believe it! I'm going to leave you with this quote that I think is quite amazing that I saw as someone's facebook status: "Three grand essentials to happiness in this life are something to do, something to love, and something to hope for." -Joseph Addison. Above is a picture of my friends and I at graduation, 4 of us are actually in the Choir but aren't graduating, those are just our robes. Chris, however did graduate. But what's significant about it is that it was on the FRONT page of the Newspaper this morning! Made my day! And below is my favorite class ever, 6th period with Mr. Lee who happens to be retiring this year, sadly :( But anyways, focus on the little things that make you smile :)

Pro Memoria Diem

Today is Memorial Day. And I think a lot of us tend to forget about it being a day where we honor those who've served for us, and instead think "WOO! Three day weekend!" I know I do from the start, but I always remind myself of those I know who've served my country before me. Both of my grandfathers, and a couple childhood friends are all I can come up with at the moment. But still, it means a lot, and I want them to know how truly grateful I am for what they have and/or will do for our country.

But on the blogging aspect. This week has been pretty average when you compare it to other weeks. Some parts better than others. Last time I blogged I was so nervous about my solo when it turns out the next day I didn't have to do it at the assembly (which by the way, lasted FOREVER! Mr. Speakes definitely spoke). But that day started off really bad, and then became quite an amazing day. First, I got my first parking ticket this year for parking in the visitor section because I was late to school, and parking out in cage would've made me later. Yeah, so much for avoiding being late. Then the assembly that ran over by 30 min. And it was raining, but then it was pretty 'cause it was sunny and raining (which has always been my favorite). After school, the Vibe practiced non-stop it seemed. And when the choir concert came, I was nervous all over again. But in the end, I had so much fun. The Vibe did AMAZING in my opinion-true there were some glitches, but it happens. And Les Miserables came together beautifully. Thursday was pretty fun too. Went to James' that night for some Poker, which at first was more like "Mock the Cheerleader" (aka ME) but it eventually simmered down. Friday was pretty relaxed, went to the Band Spring Shenanigans and saw our Yearbook for the first time which was beautifully done by my friend Hergy! Props man! Then went to Graces to work on Physics, which we really didn't do haha. Then movie night with James cause he was the only one who came over, and we watched Baby Mama. Saturday was good too: cleaned out my car, and the bathroom. Then went to Scott's bday party, which was Minute to Win It style! TONS of laughs! :) Then went to Jenni's Grad Party; again tons of laughs. ITUP! ;) Then Sunday I did absolutely nothing aside from laundry, and cleaning my room! I feel pretty accomplished. My whole life is cleaner now! WOO! Clean slate for summer! I'm so stoked for summer it's insane! But now I need to figure out when exactly I'm going back to Vegas, because people keep asking me, and all I can say is July! Hopefully by the next time I blog, I'll know when. Spectaculorum Procedere Debet

And so we meet again, bloggers (cough cough, Jayannah, cough). So basically this is going to be a quick one. Lately, life's been good. YL Club ended with a BANG! Soap Olympics were amazing, and so much fun! I couldn't have asked for a better way to end such a great year with YL :) But as of right now, like literally right this second, I'm kind of freaking out. Apparently the Vibe (a singing group I'm involved in at school) is singing at the last school assembly tomorrow. And they decided to have us do "Don't Stop Believin'" the Glee version, and guess who has the girl solo? I'm really nervous. True, I'm not really new anymore, but still, I am. Most people don't even know who I am, let alone that I sing. I'm so nervous I'll mess up, it's insane. But I keep telling myself, "It doesn't matter. Either they're going to like you or they won't, regardless of whether you mess up." That's why I titled the blog Spectaculorum procedere debet=The show must go on. And so it shall...but for now, I've got to go to bed. After all, tomorrow's a big day. Maybe I should take my own advice when I say focus on the little things that make you smile :)

Audaces Fortuna Iuvat

For those of you who don't know Latin (this includes me, I'm just liking this whole Latin title thing), the title means "Fortune favors the bold." At this moment in my life, this phrase really speaks to me. Lately I've been stressing about college, and you may be thinking, "Chelsea, why are you stressing? You're not even a senior yet!" But the thing is, I'm only a couple months away from applying to colleges; only a couple months away from deciding where I'll live for the next 4 years; only a couple months from making one of the BIGGEST decisions of my life. Now, how the title incorporates to my stress is for the fact that I've been leaning heavily towards NYU. But even I know that's ambitious. Lately, I've been thinking about a life on Broadway, or just in the music business in general. I've always loved NYC; I mean I've been there twice, and I still always say to go there when it's time to decide a family vacation. The city is just so thrilling, so full of life, you can't help but feel like you're a part of something big. And I've always loved Musical Theater, and seeing that NYC is home to Broadway, NYU would make my dream seem that much more achievable.
But still, that means that I'd be poor. I'd struggle for a long time. I'd be completely alone, 3,000 miles away from home. And if I happen to be part of that 1% of the population that makes it to the main stage, it would be quite the difficult life. I don't know if I'd want to be that far away from home all the time. There's a part of me that likes the idea of coming back home and raising a family close to where I grew up.
Still, I feel that there's a bigger part of me that wants more in this life, wants to take a leap and free-fall into the unknown, and take a stab at trying to break into the "biz." I've got big dreams, and I want to see how far I can go with them. I don't want to look back, and wonder "What if?"

Now besides that, life's been pretty chill since I last blogged. Saturday night was a BLAST! At first it was quite random, just me, Whitney, Jillian, Becca, and Chad came together for a party night. In an act of desperation, we called up the most RANDOM group of people ever to come party with us. It turned out to be a quite a success, with QUELF and Volleyball! Sure, I got hit in the face, but it was well worth it. And Sunday I went and saw my friend Crystal in Richland Players Theater Production of 'Blithe Spirit.' It was quite funny, and I'm glad I went with my parents. I've been trying to get her involved in theater up here in the hopes that it will help her become acclimated. Then we went to Olive Garden (My FAVORITE), and then I went back to Whitney's to grab my audition song in karaoke. There, I met her new-found stray cat which we named Boomer Camper! He's seriously one of the nicest cats EVER! And they're keeping him! After I went to Paige's to finish math, and that's basically it. Now, I'm off to Paige's again to prepare for our audition for ACT's upcoming Production of 'Cinderella.' We're both gunning for the part of the Ugly Step-Sisters ;) Wish us luck!
